How to Help a Friend or Loved One

Being the friend or family member of someone who is being abused is never easy. It can feel confusing, heartbreaking, and at times even frustrating. But your support matters more than you may realize. Staying connected, listening without judgment, and reminding them they are not alone can play a powerful role in their journey toward safety.

Let your friend or loved one know:

You don’t have to have all the answers. Just being there, consistently and with care, can help someone feel seen and supported. If you’re not sure what to say or how to help, that’s okay.
