Last September, Vera House released our agency positions. The agency positions are values we strive to live by in our work and personal lives. Our number 1 position is “we start by believing survivors.”
It is a hard truth of our work that anyone can perpetrate abuse. A person can be an ally to one person and hurt another. When we start by believing survivors, we acknowledge that complex reality and we create space for truth and healing. The workplace sexual harassment and abuse allegations against Governor Cuomo are serious and we support an independent investigation.
